Dreams are just outside of reach until we commit to pursuing them.

Step 1 — Dream

Introduction to getting inspired

The first step to living the life of your dreams is to find some inspiration

There are many ways we can frame this idea of how to dreams. When I talk to kids, I use the following process as described in How to turn dreams into reality:

  1. Fill your bucket (with passionate ideas).
  2. Sort your treasure.
  3. Build a dream.

Example

  • Make a list of all your hobbies
  • Sort them according to a value or virtue, like passion or feasibility.
  • Combine your top two or three ideas. For example, I combined my love of travel, bicycling and desire to find the meaning of life into my trip around the world, which then turned into a book because of my love for reading.

A more advanced concept is shown in the illustration above:

  1. Break out of your box. Consider that you may have created a self-limiting belief system or reality.
  2. Consider all the possibilities. Other people are probably doing it, why can’t you?
  3. Believe there is more possible than you can even imagine. Personally, this is my favorite. I love being surprised.

I dig deep into these ideas in the articles below.

How to find a dream or inspiration

Below are some articles to help you find a dream, inspiration, purpose or whatever you like to call it.

For some real-life inspiration, follow my adventures and misadventures and lessons learned. I aim to make my stories entertaining and hope that you feel as if you are riding alongside me, living, loving and learning. Scott’s Adventures. But don’t take my word for it. get inspired by our Guest Adventurers. We hope someday, you will be one of them.

Also, I recommend downloading some worksheets. Rather than me telling you the answers, you can figure it out for yourself. I create free printables that help you plan various aspects of your life, like a habit-building exercise. See all the worksheets.

So, I’ve just given you three practical suggestions, a mini plan, to find a dream:

  1. Learn what a dream is. See articles below.
  2. Find some external inspiration. See my adventures or guest adventures.
  3. And work out your own dream with a worksheet.
