ian hibell
Ian Hibell (6 January 1934– 23 August 2008) was a cyclist who spent nearly 40 years bicycling various parts of the world.

A man who lived by the bicycle and died by the bicycle

Ian Hibell is a bicycle tourer who makes me feel like I should take the training wheels off my bike. Ian traveled 10 times further than I did, about the equivalent of 10 times around the equator over his 40-year travel career. Apparently, he was the first man to ride from the top of the Americas to the bottom, including the Darien Gap in Panama, which is a swampland full of banana boats and drug smugglers. He did a lot of truly amazing things but was unfortunately killed last August by a hit-and-run accident in Greece.
